An Illinois diver has recovered nearly 200 Apple Watches from the bottom of a lake and has warned watch owners not to go swimming with original watch bands.
Derek Langos, a scuba diver from Port Barrington, makes a living as a metal detectorist which he uses to recover lost items from the Indiana Chain O’ Lakes.
He said he found 200 Apple smartwatches deep in the lake during his swim. Derek Langos, operator of the Bear Scuba Diving Recovery Service.
He said all the watches found had their original bands. He told the local media that those who go into the water with sports bands cannot wait.
He said he was hired to recover some watches while others he found while diving. He has kept everything for himself in order to return them to their owners. I sold none of them, including a white gold Cartier ring, to return to the owners.
