Bishnuprasad Sharma will contest as an Independent candidate from Darjeeling to beat Raju Bista Achi-News

The demand of the people of Darjeeling for a separate Gorkhaland is now almost a dream. UPA in the center or NDA – the votes are mainly based on the Gorkhaland issue in the hills. During the Ghising-Gurung era, there was pressure on political parties to field Bhumiputra candidates. But now BJP is offering the strongest candidate to win Shail Kendra from Bengal. And Karshiang’s current MLA, Bishnuprasad Sharma, is angry with this policy of the party. Several times he walked along the path of individual movement, but nothing was resolved. This time too, not Bhumiputra, but the outgoing MP Raju Bista has again been nominated for the Darjeeling constituency. And protesting against it, Vishnuprasad Sharma took the final decision to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha Election.

Earlier, BJP MP Karshiang was criticized several times for raising the Gorkhaland demand. A few months after Ekush won the assembly polls, Vishnuprasad Sharma also sent a letter to BJP All India President JP Nadda demanding a separate state. He claimed that separate states were necessary for proper development. Because, for a long time, the Gorkha people have been deprived of their due rights. After this, he has raised the tone for Gorkhaland several times. He even sat alone outside the assembly in protest. Naturally, his ‘movement’ was not viewed favorably by the ocher camp. However, it could not be predicted that he will come to the polls with Bhumiputra’s passion to break the BJP votes. This time, the BJP sees a vermilion cloud in his decision.

Leader of Opposition Subvendu Adhikari has expressed his anger in close circles regarding Vishnuprasad Sharma. In damage control, Kalchini pushed MLA Vishal Lama. According to sources, Vishal Karshiang will visit Vishnu Prasad’s house. A request will be made for Vishnu to withdraw from the decision to contest as an independent. In this regard, BJP MLA Kalchini said, “Vishnuprasad Sharma is a member of the BJP family. Being a member of a family can cause problems in any matter. It does not mean that he is no longer a member of our family because of problems. I will speak to him personally and try to campaign for the BJP candidate.”
