Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court and tendered an unconditional apology for the misleading advertisements, saying that they regret the mistake and want to assure the court that it will not happen again.

What does it matter

On Tuesday last week, a hearing was held in the Supreme Court in the Patanjali Ayurveda misleading advertisement case, in which Yoga Guru Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda MD Acharya Balkrishna came to the Supreme Court. During this, the court reprimanded both of them for not submitting a proper affidavit and ignoring the rules and said that you will have to submit an affidavit in this case.

The hearing will take place on April 10

The Supreme Court has given the last chance to Ramdev and Patanjali MD Acharya Balkrishna to file an affidavit in a week. He also ordered that the next hearing will be held on April 10. The court also rejected the statement made in Patanjali MD’s affidavit that the Drugs and Cosmetics (Magic Drugs) Act is old.

Patanjali apologized unconditionally

Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna to appear in court in person on April 2 for not responding to the contempt notice. The Supreme Court bench strongly objected to Patanjali and Acharya Balakrishna not responding to the court’s notice and issued a notice asking why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them. After that, Patanjali and Acharya Balakrishna gave an affidavit and apologized.

Acharya Balakrishna, CEO of Patanjali Ayurveda, submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court and apologized unconditionally. In the affidavit, Acharya Balakrishna said that he will ensure that such advertisements are not published in the future. He also said that his intention is only to inspire the citizens of the country to live Healthy living through Ayurvedic products.

What is the IMA claim?

IMA alleged that Patanjali ran a smear campaign against the Covid-19 vaccine. In this regard, the court warned that false and misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurveda should be stopped immediately. The possibility of a fine of up to one million rupees was raised for any product that makes false claims of curing specific diseases. Ramdev, who is facing criminal cases filed by the IMA for his controversial comments on allopathic medicines during the COVID-19 pandemic, moved the Supreme Court to quash the cases. Ramdev has been booked under sections 188, 269 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code for spreading misleading information about drugs used by the medical fraternity on social media.
