Apart from the 5 percent GST at the Centre, some other costs also increase the price of cooking gas cylinders. According to Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cells (PPAC) data, dealers are charged Rs 61.84 as commission. This includes an ‘introduction charge’ of Rs 27.60 and a ‘setup charge’ of Rs 34.24.

The state does not levy any separate tax. However, domestic LPG cylinder prices vary across regions due to fixed market prices. It depends on various factors. Like cost per cylinder in LPG bottling plant, freight charges etc.

5 percent GST is levied on domestic LPG cylinders across India. Its price varies in different states due to variation in fixed market prices. The state does not charge any additional tax.
