The leopard was caught in a cage kept by the forestry department in this south Duars garden. The people of the area were terrified of his power for some time. Nageshwari south plantation area was almost sleepless due to leopard infestation. According to local sources, leopards had increased in this south garden for quite some time. When it got dark at night, the leopard would enter the workers’ quarters and take the ducks, chickens and goats. Even, sometimes the leopard would jump on the workers while going to work in the tea garden. After that, two days before the capture of the leopard, the forest department set a trap with goat bait in section 12 of the south garden. After that, some workers in the area saw a leopard being caught in the cage. Khuniya field forest personnel were informed. After hearing the news, the forest workers came to rescue the leopard at night. This brought relief to the area.
