Prime Minister Narendra Modi says the last decade of BJP rule at the Center was dedicated to the Northeast. He said the North East was left to its own devices but BJP worked to improve its image in the last decade. The Prime Minister said that in the last 10 years, 11 peace agreements have been signed, which are proving to be milestones in efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.

Conditions in the North East have improved – Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Modi said that due to the timely intervention of the central and state governments, there has been a significant improvement in the situation in crisis-hit Manipur. He also emphasized that the central government is making every possible effort to successfully complete the peace talks with the Naga groups. He said that since 2014, more than 9,500 rebels have surrendered and joined the mainstream. This is an important step towards peace and development in the region.

“The central government is committed to changing the situation in the northeast”

In an interview, the Prime Minister said that when the BJP government came to power at the Centre, I had a strong commitment to change the situation in the North East. We replaced the policy of isolation and ignorance with the policy of integration. The last 10 years have ended the isolation of the Northeast and developed the region. Prime Minister Modi said he had visited the region about 70 times.

“An amazing improvement in Manipur’s situation”

According to the Prime Minister, today the Northeast is not far from Delhi and not far from the heart. He said that in the last 10 years, Indian government departments have spent more than 5 lakh rupees to improve the situation in the North East. Regarding the opposition’s criticism of the situation in Manipur, the Prime Minister said that it is a collective responsibility to deal with such a situation sensitively. He said I already talked about it in Parliament. We devoted our best resources and management mechanism there to resolve the conflict. Due to this, the situation in Manipur has improved significantly.

Answer given to China- Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India

When asked about China’s claims over parts of Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi said that Arunachal Pradesh is, is and always will be an integral part of India.

“Security forces have been deployed to stop Myanmar’s incursion into Mizoram”

Reacting to Myanmar’s invasion of Mizoram, the prime minister said the issue was raised with the neighboring country’s authorities as it has a direct impact on India, especially the northeastern states. According to him, in order to stop the infiltration, it was decided to stop the free movement arrangement between India and Myanmar. Apart from this, the deployment of border security forces on the India-Myanmar border has been increased.
