Good To Be Lucky, Lucky To Be Good | Winkler tied series 1-1
The Flyers used a soft dump and turned it into the winning goal off the stick of attacking star Avery Anderson to tie their series with Virden up at 1-1. 6 league leader Jayce Legoardenedof the postseason tied the game in the second. Roux Bazin put a rocket into the back of the net on a power play in the first but that would be the only time the Oil Caps beat Malachi Klassen on the night. Eric Reid stood tall for Virden, giving them a chance to get the game back to even but the Flyers were too much to handle on Sunday night. The orange and black picked up their pace and physical play. After some penalty trouble in the first, the Flyers played tough but smart hockey, never seeing the penalty box at Tundra Oil and Gas Place again in the second or third period. The series will resume on Tuesday with the best of 5 now and the Flyers looking to become the first home team to win a game in the series while the Oil Caps look to continue the trend of the visitors coming to the top, at least for now. Game 3 is Tuesday at Winkler at 7:00pm.
