Ranvir Shorey is one of the best actors in the Indian entertainment industry. Shorey has contributed significantly to Indian cinema, starring in critically acclaimed films as well as blockbusters. From Khosla Ka Ghosla to Angrezi Medium, his ability to effortlessly transition between different genres – from drama and comedy to thriller – has won him acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Beyond films, the actor has also made his mark in the space on television and web series especially with Vikas Bahl’s Sunflower. As the latest season of the black comedy finally released, Ranvir opened up about all the positive feedback Sunflower has been getting.

Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Ranvir said, “It’s always great to get positive feedback especially from the audience. And in this case, it’s also a small relief because on social media, there were so many questions about when Season 2 will be out. So more than anything, I’m glad people got what they wanted to see. Except now people are asking about Season 3.”

Sharing his thoughts on his on-screen relationship with Girish Kulkarni, Ranvir continued, “I met Girish Kulkarni earlier a few times but this is the first time we have worked together so closely. And he’s a great actor and he really elevates everyone who works with him. He has been so supportive and patient since I had to practice a lot to perfect my character’s walk and look. And in the series, my character blocks the comedy and Girish Sir’s character infuses comedy into the plot. It’s good to be able to play the foil with such good actors because it’s very important for the scene to work with these two things together.”

Thinking about indelible moments from the sets, Ranvir praised the show’s director, “I have amazing memories with this show, even from the first season. Vikas Bahl manages to create a very warm, efficient and creative environment for his actors. Whether it’s lunchtime, the shoot, the jokes, the fun we have, the improv we do, the discussions we have, it’s such a great experience to work in such a positive and creative environment,” he said.

Regarding Sunil Grover who plays the central character Sonu, Ranvir said, “I have known Sunil Grover from the time when I was doing the great Indian comedy show and he had just started then. So I think I knew him as a talented person from those days. It’s so nice to see him get his due and grow as an actor. And frankly, Sunflower is arguably his best work. Because of the kind of intricacies and quirks required to play Sonu in Sunflower, I don’t think any other actor would have managed what Sunil has done. His talent is really central to Sunflower.”

The actor also inquired about Adah Sharma’s entry into the world of Sunflower, “Adah Sharma has brought incredible energy to Sunflower.

It’s like a 100 Watt bulb on the set. She is talented, hard working and she has added so much to the world of Bloud r Haul through her presence. It’s been great working with her to be honest,” he expressed.

Reminiscing about his cult film Khosla Ka Ghosla, which has completed 20 years, Ranvir shared, “What I want to say about Khosla Ka Ghosla is that it is a gift that keeps on giving. Even 20 years later, so many people I meet, the first thing they mention is Khosla Ka Ghosla. I am very grateful for that film because it put me on the map. And I think everyone involved in the film felt that way because it’s a very special film and it started the careers of so many talented people. And even 20 years later, it’s a film I’m so proud of.”

Through his extraordinary performances and commitment to challenging roles, Ranvir Shorey continues to be a dynamic and influential figure in the Indian entertainment industry. Talking about doing various films and roles, Ranvir said, “It has always been my intention and plan to do as many different roles and films as I can. And that continues even today. Because for me, it’s not the genre or the character that matters to me. What is important to me is the cinematic qualities of the project. How good is the script, how well is the part written, how well is the director’s vision. These are the things that are most important to me. Even more than other aspects such as whether it is a positive character, a negative character, a gray character, a language or a medium. Good writing and a good visual representation of that writing is important to me. The scope to perform with the character is important to me. The emotional graph and the emotional focal point of that character is what I focus more on.”

Finally, when the actor was asked about starring opposite the late Irrfan Khan in Angrezi Medium, Ranvir said, “I worked with Irrfan Khan in at least three films if I’m not wrong? It was very sad to hear about his illness. It was really very tragic and horrifying. All I can say is that I am grateful to spend time with him while making Angrezi Medium. He was such a great human being, apart from being a great actor. He had an incredible screen presence. I always say this, that Irrfan is like a soul to me. It was like a soul carrying the body.”
