Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest exploration and production company, has discovered gas in the Noor West #01 well in Sajawal District, Sindh Notice has been informed about the progress.
and noted that Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) as operator (100%) Noor Development & Production Lease (D&PL) has discovered gas in its exploration well Noor West #01 located in District Sajawal, Sindh.
OGDCL shared that the Norwest #01 structure was drilled and tested to a depth of 2,975 meters using the company’s in-house expertise.

1.24 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas was tested through the choke at a well flow pressure of 150 pounds per square inch (psi) from the Lower Goro Formation.”
OGDCL said the discovery is being evaluated as tight gas.
Tight gas is a type of natural gas that cannot flow naturally at commercial rates by conventional means, making it one of the main unconventional resources.
Meanwhile, OGDCL said the discovery at Norwest #01 paves new avenues and will help expand the hydrocarbon reserve base of the company and the country.
“In furtherance of the strategic direction, OGDCL has initiated the rapid implementation of its tight gas exploration programme, which underlines its commitment to expand energy resources,” the notification said.
In February, the federal government introduced the stringent Gas (Trade and Production) Policy 2024, in its bid to facilitate investment in unconventional hydrocarbons by the oil and gas industry.
Through this policy, the government wants to stimulate tight gas exploration in a technically and commercially viable manner.
According to the company’s latest financial results, OGDCL registered net sales of Rs 120.141 billion during 1QFY24 ended September 30, 2023.
