A member is a tree that thrives in drought, grows in any soil and keeps the sun away. This Tapasi stands in the hot sun giving shade.

Shimga happened eight days ago and after eight days it has been demolished. Winter ends on Shimga day. The old people of the village used to say that winter is burnt in the Holi fire and summer starts from there. It is also said that fearing the fire of Holi, she covers herself with a cold blanket and sits behind it and on the day of Dussehra, she removes the blanket and comes out. This year, summer started getting hotter from Shimgya day.

Amarya attracts everyone’s attention in the summer. Mango trees hang everywhere. Everyone’s attention, including the birds, is fixed on those trees. First, for a month, the entire air is clouded with the scent of the mohra flowers. The fragrance of mango blossoms wafts everywhere. Now that the smell of the flower is over, the mangoes have started to grow. As the summer progresses, the amrai ripens. Fruits come and fall and everyone’s attention is focused there.

During this time, a neglected tree in Shivara also blossoms. His scent also wafts across the city. But, no one pays much attention there. This tree also continues to be neglected and this scent also continues to be neglected. To be honest, I’m more obsessed with the smell of this tree seal than the mango seal. Passing under this tree, I stand for a while with my eyes closed and take in the bitter-bitter smell again and again. For someone like me who is allergic to the smell, this smell feels like opening the chest. Neem is a medicinal tree. Some call it neem. Neem trees bloom everywhere in Maharashtra.

Mango trees must be planted, watered and raised. But, nobody grows this lemon tree. In fact they try to break it whenever possible. These trees continue to flourish and grow in the space available. No one needs to water it, take care of it. Due to its bitterness, sheep goats and buffalos also do not tolerate it. So it stays safe automatically. Its roots go very deep, drawing moisture from the soil. So, this tree blooms with green leaves throughout the summer. Along with this strong, intoxicating scent attached to the flower.

Although this tree has been neglected as a ‘bitter’ lemon, our tradition has given it justice. On the Padava day, these flowers are placed in a gudi with a lemon branch. On that day, this flower is also put in the panha of jaggery and dal. The tree gets lemons from this flower. Thousands of poems were written on mangoes; But not many poems have been written on lemons. d A poet like Patil, who once wrote poems about the life of a farmer, named his collection of poetry as ‘Limbole’.

Among the special trees of the land of Maharashtra, lime and acacia, the neglected trees, need to be considered. No one nurtures them, instead they break them down. They are constantly cut down for timber. Lime wood is stronger, harder than acacia and is considered useful under teak. Because of the bitterness in the wood, it does not need insects. Therefore, this tree is very useful for construction. However, it does not appear that anyone has deliberately planted limes and maintained them. We ignore it, but it comes in handy all the time. A gentleman in our village used to chew a handful of lemon leaves every morning. He tells people that this is the secret to our good health. They suffer no epidemic disease. His glow was bright, no one could tell his age. People used to say, ‘Even if a snake bites, its venom will not affect him, this man has spent so much bitterness.’

It was believed that having a lemon tree by the door meant that the essential gas supplier was standing in the courtyard. He was considered as Charakmuni who stopped the attack of any disease. This bitter tree, which cures all diseases caused by sweet, is considered as the mainstay of Ayurveda. Mangoes and lemons ripen at the same time. So, as an antidote to mangoes, dad asked us to eat ripe lemons. He said that the heat rashes caused by eating mangoes are destroyed. This means that these lemons, which bring down the heat of mango, are cool in nature. Since pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies started using lemons, they got a good price. People started collecting lemons and selling them by the kilo. Small merchants were formed in villages who took and sold thought in that city. Lemons began to provide employment to the poor in times of unemployment.

The new born young soul and the old body walk in the crematorium kept wrapped in lime. Everyone who comes after the last rites is given a sprig of lemon. It means that the first relationship of a human being at birth is with a lemon and at death the last relationship is also with a lemon. Why do we keep such a tree that surrounds us so much? Is this not man’s greatest ingratitude? This lemon is drought tolerant, grows in all types of soil and withstands the hot sun and blooms green. In the hot sun, this Taapsee stands on the road and on the embankment giving shelter to people. The shape given by nature to the branch of the leaf with the flower is a decoration of the painting. But since artists have not yet paid much attention to it, no poet has written many poems on this tree. But, it has come in the casts. The women who grind there remember their brother like a lemon tree in the summer of life. She always looks at this tree as her younger brother. In an ode to caste, she says…

Ginger lemon,

Got out of bed.

My brother got

Forgot sister.

lime wedges,

A bunch of lemons and ginger.

sweet to my father,

Brother and sister are heavy.
