Jammu April 06: Director General of Police RR Swain approved Rs 1.31 crore as welfare loan in favor of 102 police personnel to meet their urgent financial requirements.
Vide the PHQ order, a welfare loan of Rs 1.14 crore has been sanctioned in favor of 88 police personnel to meet expenses for their own marriages or marriages of their departments. The amount of the sanctions ranges from one lakh rupees to one lakh fifty thousand rupees. Similarly, 15.50 lakh rupees were sanctioned in favor of 11 police personnel for the purpose of higher education of their department and the amount ranges from rupees fifty thousand to rupees fifty thousand one lakh. Apart from fifty thousand rupees, each of them was sanctioned in favor of three policemen for performing religious duties.
The police headquarters operates many programs for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for departments of police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are plans for the Martyrs’ Units, their departments, and also for retired police officers and their spouses.
True, this year, till date, welfare relief and welfare loans amounting to over Rs 7.30 crore, have been sanctioned in favor of 537 police personnel, including SPOs.
