According to its website, Bury Lane farm shop in Meldreth has reopened its sandy beach ready for spring and summer.

The beach, which reopened on March 29, 2024, has been described as a one-of-a-kind attraction in the county.

A statement on the Bury Lane Farm Shop website said: “The beach is one of a kind, with a huge range of play equipment for children aged 0-10 to enjoy.

“There are lounge chairs and picnic benches scattered around, but feel free to bring a blanket or towel to really feel like you’re on the beach.”

While there is no water for a quick dip, there is a huge sandpit where kids can build sandcastles.

From 25 May 2024, there will also be bungee trampolines and go-karting in the farm shop, coinciding with May half term.

Meanwhile, the outdoor adventure area will have a range of activities including rock climbing, electric diggers, swings, a wooden boat, a giant chess set and football goal posts.

The Meldreth site is also home to an indoor soft play area with undulating slides, balance beams and cargo nets.

Other facilities include an indoor cafe that serves a variety of hot and cold drinks and a refreshment cart, which will be used during peak hours.

Another attraction at the farm shop is the cut-your-own tulip field, which will open to the public on April 5, 2024.

Visitors can pay £6 to cut 10 tulip stems, but must bring their own scissors.

Bury Lane Farm Shop is a seven minute drive from Royston and is a 23 minute drive from Cambridge.

And Cambridgeshire isn’t the only location that has its own sandy beach, although it’s not close to the beach.

Ruislip Lido Beach, located in Hillingdon, West London, features stretches of sand and palm trees.

The beach can be reached by underground train from London.

While swimming is currently prohibited, day trippers can still sunbathe on the sandy beaches.

There is also the Ruislip Lido Railway which takes visitors around the lake and through the forest.

Earlier this year the best beaches in the world were revealed – with four in the UK making the list.

And this beach town was voted cheapest in the country.

Five new water attractions will open in the UK next year
