The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for winds covering coastal areas including Hamble and Gosport, as well as Hythe, Beaulieu and Leamington.

While the warning zone, which will come into effect from 1am until midday on Tuesday, does not cover Southampton city centre, it warns that areas just inland from the coastal strip could experience gusts of 40-50km/h.

The warning was issued with strong dry winds expected to affect the south coast on Tuesday morning.

Power outages are also possible.

Later in the morning (Tuesday) the wind will change and change direction.

The warning area covers the English Channel coast from Weymouth and Portland in Dorset to Margate in Kent.
