Two road deaths as pedestrian (40s) hit by car in Co Cork and motorcyclist (20) dies in Co Wicklow Achi-News

A male pedestrian in his 40s has died after being hit by a car in Middleton, Cork in the early hours of this morning.

A motorcyclist in his 20s also died after a crash in Carno, County Wicklow, on Saturday evening.

Gardai are also at the scene of a serious traffic incident which happened yesterday evening on Churchtown Road in Dundrum, South Dublin.

Gardai are now at the scene on the N25 eastbound at Water-Rock, Co Cork, where the fatal incident took place at around 1.30am.

The man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious human injuries were reported.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have dash cam footage (including dash cam) and were traveling on the N25 eastbound between 01:15 and 01:30 are asked to make that footage available to gardaí,” a garda spokesman said.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Middleton Garda Station on 021 4621550, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

Separately, gardaí attended the scene of a single vehicle crash involving a motorbike at around 6.30pm on Saturday at Toombane in Carnew, Co Wicklow.

“The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead,” gardaí said in a statement.

“A technical inspection of the scene was conducted by forensic accident investigators and the road has since been reopened.

“Gardai are asking all witnesses to this collision to come forward.”

The force asked anyone who had camera footage and who was in the area at the time to make it available.

In another incident, gardaí said they are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on Upper Churchtown Road in Dundrum.

“The road is currently closed with a local detour in place. No further information is available at this time,” the force said.
