Karachi: Sadia Rasheed, president of Keran Hamadrad in Pakistan said that every sound and action has weight, thus raising awareness about the nature of every issue stands as the first step towards its eradication. Around the world, people encounter health challenges. Only with collective efforts can we overcome these challenges, she added, says a press release.
She spoke at the 32nd International Conference on Child Health, held online under the auspices of the Madrad Public School Karachi and the Madrad Foundation Pakistan on the topic “My health, my right” on the occasion of World Health Day which was celebrated on Sunday (today).
The conference was chaired by Dr. Luo Dafeng, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Raza-ur-Rahman, the dean of the faculty at Hamdard University, participated in the conference as a chief guest. Dr. Sara Salman Tzuberi, Head, World Health Organization Sub-Office, Sindh was the guest of honor.
She further said that for the past 32 years, the Hamdard Foundation Pakistan has been consistently hosting the International Children’s Conference every year. This initiative was inaugurated by Shaheed Hakim Muhammad Saeed to nurture the mental and intellectual growth of the youth, and prepare them for the challenges ahead. Guided by his vision, Hamard Pakistan remains dedicated to the advancement of health and education in the country. Health is a basic right for every person.
Dr. Luo Defeng in his presidential speech said that every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) sheds light on various medical challenges
confront the global community. This year’s theme aims to support worldwide the meaning and benefits of prioritizing individual health. World Health Day, observed annually on April 7, is an opportunity for the World Health Organization to increase public awareness of human health and foster efforts to establish healthier environments for populations around the world.
The World Health Organization Manifesto emphasizes the organization’s commitment to safeguarding human health and promoting global health initiatives. It highlights the initial steps taken in health and hygiene around the world. Furthermore, he emphasizes the necessity to recognize health risks arising from environmental changes and pollution, and urges the younger generation to address environmental concerns. The commendable efforts of the Hamard Foundation Pakistan in the health and education sectors of Pakistan are noteworthy. It is expected that young people will take a major role in spreading awareness within their communities through this platform.
Dr. Lu praised the speeches given by young speakers at the conference and congratulated Sadia Rashid for holding this wonderful conference.
Dr. Raza-ur-Rahman said that mental health often does not get the attention it deserves in health discussions, but the focus of these young speakers on mental well-being is commendable. The interconnectedness of our body, thoughts, mind, society and environment, adding that influences Negative socializations can adversely affect health. Hence, as a nation, comprehensive measures should be implemented to improve our overall well-being. He praised the children’s speeches, stressing that the conference goes beyond merely gathering or showcasing talent; instead, it provides a platform for free discourse on specific issues. Participation in such conferences strengthens the children’s confidence and enriches their personality.
Sarah Salman Zubri said that Shaheed Hakim Muhammad Saeed established a number of unique traditions, which the Al-Hamard organization continues to uphold. One significant tradition is hosting the International Health Conference in accordance with the theme set by the World Health Organization on World Health Day. Pakistan’s efforts to promote health have been recognized by the World Health Organization. Sadia Rashid has gracefully maintained this precious tradition of Shaheed Hakim Muhammad Saeed, and organizes the conference every year on World Health Day with great respect.
During the conference, young representatives gave informative speeches and shared insightful perspectives on the topic under discussion. They represented Pakistan, United States of America, Australia, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, contributed to the discussion. Young speakers emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of integrity and raised concerns about the presence of the polio virus in Pakistan and Afghanistan, despite its eradication elsewhere in the world. A representative from Afghanistan urged Pakistan to invest in the health sector in Afghanistan.
