Dhaka: Anti-India movement started in Bangladesh. The ‘Boycott of India’ is in full swing. A section of Bangladesh is promoting a boycott of Indian products on the streets and on social media. The main opposition party is the BNP. Apparently, after losing four times in a row in the general elections, they want to create an anti-Indian sentiment in the country.

The movement to boycott India also started in the Maldives a few years ago. It can be said that Mohammed Mojajo returned to power in the island nation based on this movement. This issue is repeated in Bangladesh as well. The opposition party BNP claims that Sheikh Hasina of the Awami League is “pro-India”. Not only that, they also alleged that India influenced Hasina’s victory in the January general elections.

Last month, BNP leader Zainul Abdin Farooq said, “India’s position in the elections came out contrary to people’s expectations. As a result, some Bangladeshis started the boycott campaign against India.” Another senior BNP leader, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has expressed much anger against India. According to him, “India does not support the people of Bangladesh. It supports the Awami League. That is why people are expressing their anger by boycotting Indian products.”

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, opened her mouth in response, although she was silent at first. He raised questions about BNP’s anti-India stance. Addressing the Independence Day meeting of the Awami League in Dhaka, Hasina said, “BNP leader burnt his scarf. How many Indian sarees do the wives of these BNP leaders have? Earlier I saw a BNP leader’s wife selling imported sarees from India.”

Hasina then opened fire on BNP. Bangladesh’s English news portal BDnews 24 quoted Prime Minister Hasina as saying, “If BNP leaders really want to boycott Indian products, first burn their wives’ Indian sarees.” Without stopping here, Hasina further said, “They should answer whether they can eat without Indian spices or not.” I want to know if they really boycotted Indian products”?
