When we talk about dangerous fish, we immediately think of Puffer fish or Blowfish. They are carnivorous and contain a toxic substance that is fatal not only to other fish, but also to humans. What fish do you think of when you think of sharp teeth? Sharks? Piranhas? Well, there is another violent fish whose teeth are like tears and could even hunt down frightened crocodiles. The video of such a fish is going viral on the internet and will leave you confused. We are talking about Tigerfish. They are predatory fish commonly found in African rivers and lakes. They are quite fierce in nature, habit and even in appearance. They have large teeth and generally hunt in packs. Such is their boldness that they can chew the bones of the crocodiles in just 30 seconds.

The video of Tigerfish was shared on Instagram and has now caught the attention of the internet. Many assumed it was a piranha, while some called it a barracuda. Tigerfish are known for their intimidating appearance and fierce behavior.

A curious social media user asked, “Is it a Piranha?”, to which the administrator replied that it was an “African tiger fish.” One jokingly wrote, “I like to catch fish like this dangerous hahaha.” Another said this was a “barracuda.” Another said, “Oh my goodness.”

Tigerfish are considered to be the most violent fish in the world. This fish is considered to be equivalent to the South American piranha, although it belongs to a completely different zoological family. The African Tigerfish has been recorded to attack and capture birds that are looking for prey near the surface of the water. Its scientific name is Hydrocynus Goliath.

Recently, in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri Fish Market, a vendor caught a 70 kg tiger fish which caused a lot of buzz and rush as customers wanted to catch a glimpse of the fish. It was caught fresh from the Ganges in Bihar and brought to Jalpaiguri Market for sale. The mammoth fish was sold for Rs 500 per kilo.
