I am Bono Shree Saikia a singer. I run my own band called ‘SKB Bonoshree’. In which I am singing songs in Hindi, English and Assamese language. I was very interested in music since childhood. I always used to take part in music competitions at school.

Not having support from the family

Papa never understood my passion for singing. He didn’t want me to perform on stage. He never supported my profession. The reason for that was my cousin. Everyone in my house went towards academics. Some are doctors and some are engineers. Papa wanted me to complete my studies and choose my profession or do a good job. But in my mind the sound, the beat, the rhythm, the waves were taking their toll. I was not interested in studies because my father was still angry with me.

My mother always supported me

My mother always supported me. Because she herself liked to sing. She would often hum. Whenever there was any program at home, he would sing a few songs. Since childhood, seeing my mother, I also developed a passion for singing. I didn’t realize when this hobby of music became a passion. But the first teacher who taught me music was my mother. Taking inspiration from him, I decided to make my hobby professional.

I am very close to natural music

I have been taking a dip in the ocean of melodies since childhood. Music is in my veins. Only music was echoing in my mind. I always look at this beautiful world created by God through the eyes of music. The flow of the rivers, the rustling of the winds, heavy rain, the sound of crickets in the quiet night gives me a feeling of natural music which gives me great relief.

Music dominates the heart and mind

Music dominated my heart and mind so much that I was never a good student. Even in the 10th class, I studied the subject of music in which I got the highest marks. Apart from school, I have also gained a degree in music separately. I also had the opportunity to model.

When I was in college, I had the opportunity to work with a great singer. For this I had to move to Guwahati. Guwahati was an unknown city to me, here I did not know the roads or the people. But my dreams and wishes brought me to this unknown city. I have wonderful memories of Guwahati in my life. This city gave me fame, fortune and recognition as a singer, Guwahati has an important role in keeping my art alive. So since then till now I live in Guwahati only. I accepted this city, and this city accepted me.

I paid all my own wedding expenses

When I left home and came to a new city, the journey was rather difficult. But gradually roads were made and everything became fine. Now I do music shows and earn good money too. I have gone home, car and all necessary items in Guwahati. I also support my parents financially. I had paid all the expenses of my own wedding. Now slowly everyone is coming in my support.

I got married very young. We both already knew each other. Everything was good before marriage. He also knew that I was in a profession where there is a very open environment. I’m a singer, I have to go out until late at night for shows. My ex-husband already knew all this and was supporting me. But suddenly I don’t know what happened he started showing indifference towards me. They don’t like to party until late at night and meet people. There were daily fights at home about my profession. He didn’t like me going far to perform.

One day things escalated so much that I fought with my husband and came to my father’s house. Told everything to Papa about the storm happening in his life. Papa listened to me and explained to me and said it’s not too late, if both of you are not happy with each other then end this relationship here. It’s not too late yet. On my father’s advice, I also felt that tomorrow if things get worse, I should make a decision and I divorced him.

life has given a lot

After coming out of my difficult period, I realized that life is very colorful and full of confluence of goals. Nature has given us such unique gifts so that we can improve life. Now I am completely focused on my work.

I get a lot of love and support from people. I am always grateful to God that he gave me a sweet and beautiful voice. My dream and my effort is to make my Assam and my country famous in the world. Life has given me more than I could have imagined. Love your life.
