ISLAMABAD: After a successful Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) Season 9, Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim took back his retirement from international cricket on Saturday and announced his availability for the Twenty20 format ahead of the 2024 ICC T20I World Cup.

The Islamabad United all-rounder left fans stunned when he announced his decision to pull out of retirement as he was available for selection for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The experienced cricketer reconsidered his retirement plans after meeting with officials Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The PSL 9 Player of the Final made the announcement on X’s social media platform, saying, “I am happy to announce that in line with a meeting with PCB officials, I have reconsidered my retirement and I am delighted to announce that available for Pakistan cricket in T20i format in the period before that. to the 2024 ICC T20i World Cup.”

Moreover, he wrote, “I would like to thank the PCB for trusting me and I will give my best to bring laurels to my country. Pakistan comes first. “

On 25 November 2023, Imad announced his retirement from international cricket. Taking to social media, he wrote: “In recent days I have been thinking a lot about my international career and I have come to the conclusion that now is the right time for me to announce my retirement from international cricket”.

Across all formats, the 35-year-old represented Pakistan in 121 matches, amassing 1472 runs and taking 109 wickets. He last played for Pakistan in April 2023 in the T20I series against New Zealand at home.
