N. Pugazhenthi, DMK MLA from Vikravandi constituency in Tamil Nadu, died on Saturday at the age of 71. He collapsed during an election campaign event.

N. Pugazhenthi, the ruling DMK party MLA from Vikravandi Assembly constituency in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, died on Saturday at the age of 71.
The MLA member fell during the election campaign plan
According to reports, Knesset member Fugazzanti collapsed during an election campaign program on Saturday afternoon. He was then taken to a hospital in Chennai, where he died. His mortal remains were brought to the DMK headquarters in Villapuram for the public to have a last glimpse. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi condoled the DMK MLA’s demise, saying he was deeply saddened by Thiru’s death and his contribution to public life will always be remembered. The governor expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of the MLA.
AIADMK candidate was defeated in 2021
Pugazhenthi, a resident of Athiyur Tiruvathi in Villupuram district, joined the DMK in 1973. He served as the President of Koliyanoor Panchayat Union in 1996. He was then appointed the president of Willipuram district. The DMK MLA contested the 2019 Vikarundi by-election after the demise of DMK’s K Radhmani. In 2021, DMK again fielded him in the elections, where he defeated AIADMK’s R Muthamilselvan.
