Union Minister Shantanu Thakur urges the Matua community to apply for citizenship under the CAA. While supporting the CAA, he said it would guarantee legal citizenship to all Matua. Because of this they will not be considered foreigners for the next 100 years.
Union Minister Shantanu Thakur explained to the Matua community that they will be given legal and constitutional citizenship by the CAA. He told them that Mo’at should not be afraid of submitting the application, otherwise they themselves would contact the Authority. He said that in the next 100 years, they will not be expelled from the country considering them as infiltrators under NRC. Giving an example, he explained that if they do not apply under the CAA, their situation will also become that of the Rohingya.
