Lahan worth Rs 2.70 crore was caught, smugglers ran away by swimming in the river

Jalandhar (Sachhoon News). Poisonous Liquor Case: The police department is alert after the death of 22 people due to consumption of poisonous liquor in Sangrur district. On Sunday morning, teams from the Health Police and the Foreign Department raided the Mehatpur area near the Sutlej River amidst rain. During this time, the police have recovered around 4.50 lakh liters of Lahan, 8 kg of Doda, Poppy and liquor bottles from the spot. However, on seeing the police party, the accused crossed the river and fled towards Ludhiana. At present the police have registered the case and started action. Jalandhar News

The accused were so mischievous that they made huge holes near the river Sutlej. The accused was making liquor by placing wooden stands in it. The teams that arrived at 6 am managed to recover the working furnaces. According to sources, the government issued strict instructions to the Jalandhar Customs Department regarding illegal liquor. The department team had received information that liquor distilleries were being built illegally on the banks of the Sutlej river. Jalandhar News

All the accused fled after seeing the vehicles of the police party coming.

Jalandhar Dehat police station, with the help of CIA, raided Veran village of Mehatpur. Seeing the vehicles of the police party coming, all the accused jumped into the river Sutlej and fled towards Ludhiana. When the teams reached the spot, they found that the liquor had been destroyed and liquor was being made from the river water. There were about a dozen people working at the scene, who ran away after seeing the teams.

According to the information received, the teams have recovered around 4.50 lakh liters of liquor and 8 kg of baby from the spot. The police destroyed the said items on the spot. Sources have revealed that the market value of the destroyed medicines is around Rs 2.70 crore. Jalandhar News
