When asked about reports that the MP may have tried to kill himself, authorities at the private hospital in this town to which he was originally referred declined to comment.
MDMK’s Ganeshamurthi, the sitting Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Erode, was hospitalized on Sunday, and doctors say his condition is critical. According to the police, around 9:30 am today, Ganeshamurthi, who was elected on a DMK ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from here, developed uneasiness and was admitted to a private hospital here by his family members.
After examination, he was admitted in the ICU and was put on a ventilator, police said. When asked about reports that the MP may have tried to kill himself, authorities at the private hospital in this town to which he was initially referred, refused to comment.
The MP was later shifted to a private hospital in nearby Coimbatore, with two doctors and members of his family accompanying him in the ambulance. DMK’s S Muthusamy, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing and Homes and Prohibition, Dr C Saraswathy, BJP MLA from Modakurichi, AIADMK leader KV Ramalingam and some others rushed to the hospital and inquired about Ganeshamurthi’s health.
