West Bengal: NIA attack on TMC leader’s house, wild mob pelting stones! Achi-News

Kolkata: The NIA team (NIA Raid) was attacked by locals when they went to investigate the 2022 blast case at the house of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader in West Bengal.

This incident happened this morning in Bhupatinagar in East Midnapore district of West Bengal, when the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team raided, miscreants threw stones and bricks at the NIA team car and damaged the front window. It is learned that the incident happened around 5.30 in the morning and the local people protested against the officers and attacked the car.

When the NIA officials arrived there to investigate the 2022 arson case at the Trinamool Congress leader’s house, an angry mob started pelting stones at the officers’ car. As a result, the officers traveling in the car were injured. The incident happened at around 5.30 in the morning.

The NIA team has filed a complaint against Manbendra Jana and an unknown person in connection with the case. NIA officials had reached the spot to arrest Monobroto Jana. NIA sources said that although the Central Bureau of Investigation had informed the local police station before the attack, proper security arrangements were not made. NIA has filed an official complaint at the local police station regarding the incident.

Based on the complaint filed by the NIA officer, the Bhupatinagar police registered a case under sections 341, 332, 353, 186, 323, 427, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and the PDPP Act against the main accused Monobroto Jana and members of’ to family and unknown others have registered an FIR under Section 3 of the Public Property Act, 1984. The Monobroto agency arrested Jana amidst stone pelting by an angry mob.

A thatched house was destroyed in an explosion in Bhupatinagar on December 3, 2022, in which three people were killed. Last month, the NIA had summoned 8 Trinamool Congress leaders for questioning in connection with the blast. The Central Bureau of Investigation has asked the eight to appear before its officers as they failed to appear for the probe in an earlier summons and directed them to visit the NIA office in New Town on March 28. The mob attack took place when the NIA team reached Bhupatinagar to arrest Monobroto Jana in connection with this case.

ED team attack in Sendeshkhali

Two months ago, the ED team had raided Sandeshkhali in West Bengal. Later, Central Bureau of Investigation officials raided the house of local TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh. Sheikh’s supporters also attacked the Central Police personnel who were with the ED team. Three Emergency Department officers who were injured in stone pelting were admitted to hospital.

Shahjahan Sheikh is a close relative of former Bengal Food Minister Jyoti Priya Mallick and is currently in CBI custody on charges of sexually exploiting women in Sandeshkhali. Jyoti Priya Mallik was accused in a multi-crore rupee ration distribution scam in West Bengal. He was arrested by the Emergency Department at the end of last year and is currently in prison.
