The Tobermory Hotel, Isle of Mull, has been bought by the island’s operator Achi-News

The Tobermory Hotel on the Isle of Mull has a restaurant and bar as well as a strong trading history, the agent said.

The hotel stands on the beautiful seafront which has been part of advertising campaigns, films and television programmes, including the BBC children’s programme, Balamory.

James Wright, director of Ritecrown Ltd, told the Herald: “The Tobermory Hotel now joins our family of Western Isles Hotels and The Harbor Hotel, all based in Tobermory.

“It will all be operated under one management structure which enables us to ensure better stability in terms of friendly trained staff, expected accommodation standards, good food and drink at a reasonable price and to continue to constantly upgrade to ensure satisfaction guests.”

Mr Wright also said: “We will be extending our popular locals discount scheme to the Tobermory Hotel where 10% is offered on all food and drink and up to 20% on accommodation as well as our off season deals at the Highlands and Islands from £100 per annum. person for dinner bed and breakfast.”

The agent said the hotel has been serving guests for 150 years. He said: “The hotel has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century when it was first built as a private home for a wealthy merchant.

“In 1882, the house was bought by a local businessman called George Robertson, who converted it into a hotel.

“During the Second World War, the hotel was used as a base for British naval officers stationed in the area. After the war, the hotel was restored and reopened to the public.”
