Surendu Verma, founder secretary of Anjani Putra Sena, which has been organizing the Ram Navami Bhora procession every year for the past few years, claimed this on Thursday and said the police had suggested taking out the procession through a different route, the coastal road. , instead of the traditional GT Road route. Is. Expressing his displeasure at this, he clearly said that this is not acceptable to him. In a conversation with journalists after the meeting with the police, he said that he would take out the procession on the traditional route only. For this he warned of an appeal to the High Court if necessary. This time Ram Navami is on April 17. Verma said that he first wrote a letter to the police administration on February 22 to obtain permission for the procession but did not receive any response. He wrote the letter again this month, but received no reply. He was later called for a meeting by the DCP of Howrah City Police. In doing so, the police told them that they wanted to give permission on a different route. According to him, for the past 10 years the procession has been held from the GT road only, while this time the police are talking about taking it from the coastal road. This is not acceptable to us. He claimed that in the last two years the police administration failed to stop the attacks on his procession in the Muslim Basti area, but now they are asking us to change course. We will not change the route. As every year, the procession will proceed from GT road only. If the police do not give permission then we will turn to the High Court. We have confidence in the court.
