Achi news desk-Survey News The number of wild animals is dwindling in the 48-year-old Badalkol Sanctuary located in the Narayanpur district of Jashpur. The main reason for this is forest fires every year during the summer. The irony is that even in the temple area concrete arrangements could not be made to control the fire. Talking about the facilities available in Badalkhol Sanctuary, there are only 8 fire extinguishers here to douse the fire in 20 beats. Not even two of these machines are working. Apart from that, the forest people are not deployed on all beats either. It is said that out of 20 beats, 10 have forest guards and seven have game guards. The responsibility for the remaining three beats was also given to one of them. First, there is a shortage of shelter personnel, despite this there are many forest guards who fulfill the duty of protecting the sanctuary like a government office. That is, instead of staying at the headquarters, they arrive every day between 10 and 11 in the morning and return in the afternoon. There are some beats where the rangers don’t come for weeks. The forest fire season has begun. According to the information, in the last two or three fire incidents occurred in two areas of Beit Kalia and in Crown in Keddosha. Despite this, it seems that the temple management is not ready. Tracking is maintained on each beat. The surveillance is kept on every pulse of a temple in Dalchol. All twenty calls were alerted for the fire. The shelter staff patrol their areas daily. Fire watchers were also deployed at each beat as additional security. -Bibi Kerketta, SDO, Badalkhol Sanctuary
