In every Lok Sabha election in the country, 68 percent of candidate deposits are forfeited. In the last election, deposits of 144 candidates were confiscated, while in 2014, 189 candidates were confiscated in 2009 and 154 candidates. In fact, in the four elections held in the country, each time only about 32% of the candidates managed to save their deposits.
