New Delhi: Vistara Airlines is in a big mess. Many pilots have taken vacations together. As a result, one flight after another has to be cancelled. However, Vistara Airlines has made a statement that everything will be back to normal by the weekend. Within hours, the pilots protested that they were tired of flying.

NDTV wrote in their report, “The pilots have reached the end of their capacity. This causes health problems. They often get sick.” Vistara has had to cancel a number of flights due to a lack of pilots. The airline has faced huge losses.

Informed circles believe that this ‘disease’ of the pilots is a result of the protest of a revised contract after the merger of Vistara with Tata Air India. However, the sources involved denied this claim. They claimed, “Pilots are exhausted from flying. The new FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limit) rules were supposed to bring some relief. But nothing really happened as expected”.

“The airline has asked the pilots to call off the strike, saying overtime pay will be credited with Air India’s roster,” a Moneycontrol report quoted sources as saying. Vistara was forced to cancel 26 flights on Wednesday due to crew absence.

To resolve the issue, Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan has already held a virtual meeting with the pilots along with the airline’s top brass. However, Vista has not issued any official statement regarding this. According to sources, flight operations are returning to normal. The number of flights being canceled has also dropped significantly. Furthermore, the authorities have assured the pilots that the issues relating to enrolment, and additional work, will be resolved by May.

On the other hand, after more than 50 flights were canceled on Tuesday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation directed Vistara to submit daily details of flight cancellations and delays. DGCA is monitoring the whole matter.
