Berlin (News Desk) In Germany, the police released a video of the unmade pants of the police officers while recording a unique protest for not getting new uniforms.

It’s been a while since Germany ran out of stock of police uniforms and officers in the department have been waiting for new uniforms for some time.

However, frustrated by the endless wait, police in the southern German state of Bavaria have taken the unusual step of drawing attention to their plight.

The German police union in Bavaria released a video on YouTube and Instagram, where two officers sitting in a police car ask each other ‘How long have you been waiting?’ In response they say to each other, ‘For four or six months’.

Saying that, the two officers get out of their BMW one after the other to show that they have no paint.

Immediately afterwards, Jürgen Kohlin, head of the state police union, comes on screen and says, whatever you think the April Fool’s joke is, it’s not a joke or something to laugh at.

He then points out that the serious lack of police uniforms is a disrespect for police officers.

He added that police in the state of Bavaria are now forced to “remove their clothes and actually appear ready to carry out their duties without trousers.”

Jurgen said there is a critical shortage of 21 different uniform items, such as hats, jackets and pants, which can still take months to become available.

The police union has demanded that the state home ministry address the issue urgently and said that even if there is additional expenditure, it should be addressed immediately.

“Since 2020, we have hardly ever spoken about defects in the quality of uniforms, but now the situation is that the availability of uniforms is in dire shortage,” said the police union.

On Wednesday, a Home Office spokesman acknowledged the problem of police uniform shortages, pointing to disruptions in the supply chain and said, “Disruption to uniform supply is proving to be a big problem for us.”

State officials say the purchase of police uniforms has been outsourced, but they will now handle the distribution logistics themselves.

The interior ministry said supply disruptions had particularly affected summer trousers, which are used differently.

Representatives of the Ministry of the Interior pointed to the coronavirus and the war in Ukraine as factors that negatively affect supply and delivery, claiming that a new logistics center would be operational in Bavaria by 2030, allowing the police have less dependence on external buyers.

However, the head of the police union, Jugen Kohlin, said that ‘it is not clear whether the situation will improve or worsen.’

“When instead of providing uniforms, new recruits are forced to complete their training in ‘civilian clothes’, what will be the effect on them,” he asked.
