The Supreme Court on Thursday again held a hearing regarding the clock symbol of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). During this the court said that now the time has come that the leaders of the two factions (Sharad-Ajit Pawar) should not be in the court but somewhere else. He also ordered that the leaders of both camps follow his instructions regarding the use of symbols, party names and reservations in the campaign material for the assembly and the general elections.

This is the case

In fact, the court ordered on March 19 that NCP must give a disclaimer in all its advertisements that the use of the clock symbol is a matter under review. Both groups appealed to the Supreme Court in this matter. Both accused each other of disobeying the court order. The division bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice KV Viswanathan heard this case.

This command to Sharad Pawar group

Disposing of the applications filed by both parties, the division bench said on Thursday that it is now time for the leaders of the two factions to be somewhere else and not in the court. The court directed the Sharad Pawar faction to inform the party workers about the use of the name ‘National Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar’ and the symbol ‘Turkha’ in the election campaign. Additionally, the faction led by the senior leader has been directed to request party workers, leaders, office-bearers and MPs not to use the ‘clock’ symbol in the election advertisements assigned to the Ajit Pawar-led NCP camp. Instructions also given to Ajit Pawar group

Similarly, the bench asked the Ajit Pawar faction to publish large and prominent advertisements in newspapers stating that allotment of the ‘Clock’ symbol to it is under consideration as per the March 19 order of the court. Further, the bench refused to revise its order as requested by the Ajit Pawar-led block.

It is necessary to give a waiver

The court asked the faction of the party led by the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, to publish a public notice in English, Hindi and Marathi newspapers, according to which the issue of allocation of the election symbol ‘Gari’ is sub-judicial and the use of this symbol will be subject to decision. The Supreme Court said, “This disclaimer should be included in every pamphlet, advertisement, audio or video issued by the political party NCP.”
