LAHORE (Newsdesk) Punjab Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control has stopped collecting fees for issuing computerized number plates for vehicles and motorcycles, bringing the mental agony faced by the public due to delays in the process to end.
This development has happened after the provincial cabinet ended the government’s monopoly in the production of number plates. It was decided that a number of private companies will be allowed to produce the plates and distribute them to consumers.

The Director General of Foreign Affairs Faisal Farid has issued a notice in this regard and has stopped the officers from collecting fees for number plates.
It is hoped that involving private companies will not only simplify the process but also reduce the cost by up to Rs 500.
This will be a huge relief to car and motorcycle buyers, who have been waiting for years to get number plates despite paying the fee.
