GUWAHATI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued an official statement on April 4 against a false allegation doing the rounds regarding voting methods, through a WhatsApp message.

The claim falsely states that government employees cannot vote by mail. The ECI later clarified that the message circulated is misleading and fake, adding that eligible officials in electoral posts can vote by postal ballot at a designated voter placement centre.
