The Jharkhand High Court, during the hearing, directed the state government that no punitive action be taken against the cases registered against the BJP leaders. In fact, on April 11 last year, BJP leaders protested outside the secretariat. In this case, a case of violation of ban order has been registered against Jharkhand BJP leaders including BJP state president Babulal Marandi, Union Minister Arjun Munda, Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das at Dhurwa police station.
The court asked the state government to submit an affidavit in the case. The next hearing in this case will be held again on May 8.
The police used tear gas and explosives
There was a clash with the police among the BJP workers marching towards the secretariat. The police fired tear gas shells, water cannons and distributed explosives to prevent the protesters from marching towards the secretariat. The then state president and BJP MP Deepak Prakash said we will not allow this corrupt government to run in Jharkhand. We decided to show them the way out. Many of our workers were injured in the police shelling.” Prakash claimed that the protests by saffron party workers across the state had ‘created a sense of fear’ in the Jharkhand government and the chief minister left Ranchi ‘out of fear’.
