A 5-year-old girl died after drowning in a canal in Aurangabad on Tuesday. The incident took place in village Sadipur Dihari in the area of Ubra police station. The deceased has been identified as Gunja Kumari (5), daughter of Dharmendra Ram, a resident of village Kurmi Sarasoli Panchayat of Ubra police station area.

On Tuesday afternoon, Gunja’s mother was washing clothes in a ditch outside the house. In the meantime she went to the ditch to bathe, but her mother scolded her and sent her back home. After washing the clothes, Sunita Devi went home to dry them. Meanwhile, Gunja goes to the ditch to bathe with one of her friends and in the process, she falls into a deep ditch. People nearby rescued them both from the ditch.
Ubra then took him to the Community Health Center where Gunja was declared dead by the doctor. Around 14:00 on Tuesday afternoon, the deceased’s family members took the body to their home. People notified the police about this incident around 5:00 p.m. The police arrived at the scene and took control of the body and began the post-mortem process.

Deceased’s father Dharmendra Ram lives and works in Chennai. The deceased had two sisters and one brother. The deceased was the eldest of the brothers. After the incident, mother Sunita Devi and sister Niharika Kumari informed. Muhya’s brother was born 10 months ago.
