Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro has started from Monday. Aqua Line Phase 1 will run from Bandra-Kurla Complex to Array stretch. Hundreds of passengers gathered on the first day to ride the underground metro. The enthusiasm was palpable.

The 12.69 km line from Aray Colony to Bandra Kurla Complex is basically a part of the Colaba-Seepz-Aray Metro Line 3. Last week, the Metro Rail Safety Commission gave permission to operate this line.

Stations: A total of 10 metro stations will fall between Bandra Kurla Complex and Ar. These are – BKC, Bandra Colony, Santacruz, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) T1, Sahar Road, CSMIA T 2, Marol Naka, Andheri, SEEPZ, Arey Colony JVLR.

Timings: Metro started at 11 AM from Bandra Kurla Complex and Aray Colony JVLR Station on Saturday, October 7. The last train leaves at 8:30 PM. However, the first metro will leave at 6:30 am every day from Tuesday. The last metro will leave at 10:30pm. And on Sundays, the metro will run from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm.

It is estimated that this line carries 4 lakh passengers per day. The Metro will run every 15-20 minutes. However, the metro will run every 6.5 minutes during office hours. There will be 96 journeys between Aye and BKC. There are a total of 48 pilots. 10 of them are women.

Passengers can buy tickets on the app. There is also a counter. Minimum ticket price is 10 rupees. The maximum price is 50 rupees. Metro is expected to reduce traffic congestion by 35 percent.
