Guwahati: Tensions are rising at Cotton University following a nail-biting finish in student elections for the post of general secretary. Nirav the thrower from the MNDP hostel emerged victorious by a razor thin margin, winning by just one vote. Hazarika got 1,045 votes, beating Kuldeep Gautam Sharma of RKB Hostel, who got 1,044 votes.

The close result sparked demands for a recount by some students.
Speaking to GPlus, a student from RKB Hostel said, "Since Kuldeep from our hostel lost by just one vote, we demand a recount. This is an injustice"
However, the authorities have not yet commented on the situation as of the filing of this report. The situation remains tense and many are awaiting an official response.
