The Swachta Hi Seva 2024 campaign gives every citizen, partner and stakeholder an opportunity to participate and make transparency a way of life. The Railways are emphasizing the participation of all passengers, workers and local people in the campaign, which encourages people to participate with a ‘whole society perspective’, establishing ‘Cleanliness as Everyone’s Responsibility’.

In line with the mission of Indian Railways (IR), North East Frontier Railway has completed a comprehensive program to ensure active participation and significant improvement in sanitation in its zone. On the first day of the programme, the activities which started with the recitation of the Pledge of Transparency at the head office included a massive cleanliness drive in all the offices and institutional buildings under its jurisdiction, railway stations, trains, railway colonies and the surrounding areas , with special emphasis on important places used for special purposes. Apart from this, the campaign has emphasized on maintaining the cleanliness of railway platforms, tracks, toilets, drains as well as pay and use toilets, waiting rooms and other railway facilities of within the station premises, which is a regular system of the North East Frontier Railway. .

Also Railways has been supporting Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) initiatives by promoting responsible disposal and recycling of waste materials by establishing RRR centers for the collection and processing of waste materials. Efforts were also made to encourage the sale of recycled materials, reflecting the railways commitment to a circular economy and waste reduction. Emphasis is also placed on clean food initiatives to ensure a comprehensive approach, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the preparation and distribution of food on railway platforms and trains.
