Political parties have stepped up preparations for the Maharashtra assembly elections. Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray has also started working on the list of candidates for the elections. Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambads Danav said that the first list of Shiv Sena (Udhav) candidates for the Maharashtra elections may be released during Navratri. He said we won 60 seats in 2019. We will move on from this.
He said that once the seat sharing formula is finalized between Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) allies Shiv Sena (Uddhav), NCP (Sharad) and Congress. His party will then announce the first list. He said that actually we don’t need to tell anyone officially that we will run in the elections. It’s a question of understanding. Many of our leaders have already started preparations for the elections.
The Shiv Sena (Udhav) leader said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently said in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar that BJP would win 30 out of 46 seats in the Marathwada region. I am not sure whether they will contest even 30 seats in Marathwada or not.
He said BJP workers are being asked to convince workers of other parties to join their camp but their friends are coming towards us. Recently the entire BJP unit of Vaijapur joined us. Even people from BJP’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (West) unit joined us.
Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra assembly are scheduled for November. Shiv Sena was divided after the 2019 assembly elections. The party name and its election symbol a bow and arrow go to the faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Shiv Sena is a partner in the ruling alliance from Ayutthaya. This also includes BJP and Ajit Pawar led NCP.
