Bangalore: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is in trouble in the electoral bond case. A court in Bengaluru ordered the police to file an FIR against him.
A person named Adarsh Iyer, on behalf of the organization Janadhikar Sankash, had alleged that Nirmala Sitharaman and her department had raised money in the name of electoral bonds. After scrutinizing all the documents, the special court in Bengaluru ordered the Tilaknagar police station to file an FIR against the country’s finance minister.

Complainant Adarsh Iyer told News18, “Our complaint is that Nirmala Sitharaman misused her power as Finance Minister and gave extra privileges to her party.” He also claimed that electoral bonds are corruption. It is clear from State Bank data that there has been massive hoarding of electoral bonds.

In February this year, the Supreme Court declared electoral bonds unconstitutional. Political parties could take crores of rupees through these bonds while keeping the identity of those who donate to a party through these electoral bonds, and as a result, questions about the influence of commercial organizations in politics also began to be raised in different circles. Regarding the FIR against Sitharaman, Union Minister Kumaraswamy said, “If the election bond money is not going to his personal account, why should he resign?” The court has only asked to file an FIR, it does not mean he is guilty”.
