New Delhi (International Desk) India’s Modi government’s big gift to the workers. Revised the expensive allowance, the minimum wage of workers has been fixed at 20 thousand 358 rupees (67,583 Pakistani rupees).

According to the report, the Center has announced an increase of up to Rs 1,035 per day. A statement from the Ministry of Labor said the adjustment aims to help workers cope with the rising cost of living.

After the amendment by the federation, the minimum wage rate for workers doing unskilled work like construction, sweeping, cleaning, loading and unloading in Zone ‘A’ will be Rs 783 per day (Rs 20,358 per month).

The minimum wage rate for semi-skilled workers will be Rs 868 per day (Rs 22,568 per month) PKR 74,780 and for skilled, clerical and unarmed watchmen Rs 954 per day (Rs 804,24 per month) PKR 82,190 per month. The minimum wage rate for highly skilled and armed personnel will be Rs 1,035 per day (Rs 26,910 per month) PKR 89,168.

The new government order to increase the wage rate will come into effect from 1 October 2024.

Note that the last review in India was in April 2024.

Workers working in various sectors including building construction, loading and unloading, supervision and security, sweeping, cleaning, housekeeping, mining and agriculture in central sector enterprises will benefit from the revised wage rates.

The Government of India reviews the VDA twice a year on April 1 and October 1 on the basis of the six-month average increase in the Consumer Price Index for industrial workers.
