According to the police, Ramchand Khandwani (81), resident of flat no-5, Satguru Apartment, Bairagarh, was a businessman. He was alone in his flat at around 1 o’clock on Monday afternoon. His sons had gone to work while his daughter-in-law, a teacher in a private school, had also gone for duty. At about one o’clock in the afternoon the bell rang at the main gate of the house. When Ramchand Khandwani opened the door, he saw two men wearing turbans standing in front of him. He asked the elderly for donations for the Gurudwara. After some thought, Ramchand agreed to contribute and left the door open and went into the inner room to collect the money.
The perpetrators entered the house as soon as they had the chance
As soon as they had the opportunity, the two criminals also entered the house and followed them into the inner room. The two accused picked up the purse kept on the table in the room. Five thousand rupees in cash were taken and Ramchand Khandwani’s gold ring was also taken by threatening him. Showing fear of death, the two accused ran away from there.
Information given when son and daughter-in-law returned
The complainant Ramchand Khandwani said in his statement that the two accused threatened him and made him sit on the sofa. After the perpetrators ran away, he remained sitting on the sofa for about ten minutes out of fear. Afterwards he realized that the perpetrators had taken his money and his ring. So somehow he came down from his apartment and came down to the road. They saw no one there. He then informed his son and daughter-in-law about the incident on a mobile phone.
