Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Nirmal Ghosh on Monday appeared before the CBI in the RG Kar Medical College-Kolkata Hospital case in West Bengal. TMC’s Panihati MLA Nirmal Ghosh reached the CBI office at 10:30 am today. An officer gave this information.
“We have called him for questioning in the RG Kar hospital case,” the officer said. He is said to have been instrumental in hastily performing the last rites of the deceased. Earlier, CBI also interrogated Birupash Biswaz, close to former principal of RG Kar College Sandeep Ghosh. He was accused of intimidating junior doctors in various hospitals. The incident of brutality with a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital took place on August 9. The deceased was a second year master’s degree student in the Department of Chest Medicine at the College of Medicine and a practicing physician. After finishing his duties on August 8, he had dinner with his friends at 12 o’clock at night. Since then there has been no sign of the doctor. On the morning of the second day of the event, a commotion arose in the medical college when the body of the doctor was found in a semi-naked state from the seminar hall on the fourth floor. The deceased’s mobile phone and laptop were recovered from the scene. A preliminary post-mortem report revealed that a rape incident had occurred with the doctor. The body of a junior doctor was lying on the mattress and blood stains were found on the mattress. The initial autopsy report shows that the deceased doctor had wounds in her mouth and both eyes. Blood marks were found on her private parts and nail marks on her face. There were injury marks on her lips, neck, stomach, left ankle and right finger.
