Because of this, along with large dams, stop dams, weirs, barrages and anicuts built on small rivers are also full. The government has issued instructions to officials even before the departure of monsoon to ensure that these water storage structures remain full of water. The Ministry of Water Resources has told the Chief Engineers that the rainy season is about to end. Therefore, gates, shutters and plates of such small water harvesting structures in your catchment area need to be closed by 30 September.

It can be kept open where there is more flow

The government has said that if the water flow in any water storage source built in the Chief Engineer area is very fast, then one of its gates should be kept open and the gates, plates or remaining shutters. If the flow of water is slow, then such gates should be closed. Instructions have also been given to all the Chief Engineers that they will send the report to the government by September 30 regarding the closing of gates, plates and lids of such water structures in their area. All superintending engineers and executive engineers were also asked to act on this.

He will get help with Rabi irrigation

According to officials, due to good rainfall this year, there is enough water in the water sources and with the benefit of this, water will be easily available for irrigation in the fields before sowing wheat in the Rabi season. After this, water for wheat sowing can be provided three times through irrigation pipes and canals.
