The Enforcement Directorate raided 11 places in Hyderabad for officials of the Operation Recruitment (OM) charity group of Telangana. It is alleged that the group raised funds worth Rs 300 million from foreign and local donations in the name of providing education and free food to Dalit children and used it for other purposes.
An ED official said on Tuesday that the agency has initiated a money laundering probe based on the FIR of the state police CID. The investigation revealed that the charity group and several other donations to the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Argentina, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Malaysia, Norway, Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Romania, Singapore, Sweden and Switzerland raised funds worth of about 300 million rupees is donated.This amount is taken in the name of providing free education and food to Dalits and their children.
1,500 rupees per month taken in the name of tuition and other fees
According to the CID FIR, these children attended more than 100 schools run by OM Charity Group. In the name of tuition and other tuition fees of these children, Rs 1,000 to 1,500 per month was taken. The amount collected was transferred to fixed deposits and later transferred to other related entities in the OM group. The ED alleges that the group took funds from the government under the Right to Education Act, but did not properly record them. He grossly moved his other income in the books of accounts.
