Most of the supervised beaches in Nova Scotia will soon have the attention of lifeguards, marking the start of the summer season.

The Nova Scotia government announced Tuesday that many of the supervised beaches in the province will have lifeguards on duty this weekend.

Lifeguards are expected to remain on duty between 10 am and 6 pm at most beaches until August 25, although three beaches are expected to be supervised until early September, including:

  • Aylesford Lake in Kings County will be monitored until September 2.
  • Lake Milo in Yarmouth County will be supervised until September 2.
  • Lawrencetown Beach on the Eastern Shore is expected to be supervised on Labor Day weekend as well as the following weekend on September 7 and 8.

In Nova Scotia last year, more than 306,000 people visited provincial beaches, and there were more than 60 savings.

A full list of supervised beaches, as well as daily condition updates, is available on the Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society website.
