Islamabad (by Rizwan Abbasi) The issue of payment of sales tax on electricity for Azad Kashmir has intensified, FBR and Power Division face to face, FBR has demanded payment of sales tax on electricity supply to Azad Kashmir.
On the other hand, Power Division has sought assistance from ECC to resolve the sales tax collection dispute.
FBR has sent a notice of 47 billion rupees to Islamabad Electric Supply Company, while FBR has also sent a notice of 5 billion of 76 crore rupees to Gujranwala Electric Supply Company.
Sources have said that a dispute between FBR and Power Division regarding sales tax collection on electricity supply to Azad Kashmir has asked ECC for help in resolving the sales tax collection dispute.
According to government sources, FBR did not recognize sales tax exemption on electricity supply to Azad Kashmir, while Power Division is not in favor of collecting sales tax on electricity supply to Azad Kashmir An agreement was signed between Power Division, WAPDA and Azad Kashmir for construction of Mangala Dam in 2003. Sales tax will not be applicable on electricity supply to Azad Kashmir.
