Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to Royal Aberdeen Hospital where he later died.
The driver of the van was not injured.

The road was closed for around eight hours to allow investigations to be carried out.
Sergeant Henderson from the Roads Policing Department said: “Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the woman who died as well as everyone involved.
“Our inquiries are continuing and I would like to appeal to anyone who saw the accident or any drivers who were in the area at the time and who may have vehicle camera footage that could help to contact us.
“I would also like to ask anyone who has any information and has not yet spoken to the police to contact us.”
