Sanjeev had bought 8.50 decimal land in the name of his wife Rita Lal and Jahangir had bought 9.75 decimal land. A total of Rs 1.35 crore was given to the land owners. Sanjeev had given cash of Rs 35 lakh each to two landowners and Rs 12 lakh to one. Ijaz had sold the land to both of them by taking power of attorney from the owners. ED has questioned the landowners Bindeshwari Ram, Akash Sahu and Ejaz Khan for five days. Ijaz has been called again.
Sanjeev also took a copy of the agreement paper after registration.
Sanjeev Lal had also cheated the land owners. He settled on a rate of Rs 7.50 lakh per decimal. But, after registration, he had also taken a copy of the agreement, so that they didn’t even have proof of the sale of the land. The landowners also found out later that he did this so that he could show the low value of the land and no agency would suspect him from where he got so much money to buy the land.
Sanjeev Lal and Jahangir had become very close during former minister Alamgir Alam’s tenure as PS. Jahangir also took great advantage of the opportunity to be involved in money transactions. Wherever Sanjeev bought land and flats, he also gave property to Jahangir.
