Farmer’s Day was celebrated in Ukraine the day before. Agriculture is currently one of the most affected sectors of the Ukrainian economy. 7 million dunams of land are occupied or unsuitable for agriculture. This is reported by TSN, writes agronews.ua.

Currently, one of the most promising directions is animal breeding, especially due to the excess grain, which is used as food.

Agriculture is one of the most profitable branches of the Ukrainian economy, and almost 70 percent of exports are grain and oil. But now Ukraine needs to focus on supporting small farmers, says Doctor of Economic Sciences Oleksandr Shpykolyak. They will be able to produce unique products, including for export.

“The food supply will also provide jobs. And even energy resources. And this will give an opportunity to develop the village as a living and business environment. And to protect the village, because the village is the cradle of the nation,” he says.

Today, various support programs for farmers operate in Ukraine, in particular in the unoccupied territories. 25% compensation on the purchase of household agricultural machinery also worked. Currently, together with the government, farmers are working on increasing credit limits to cover production costs.
